Brian Eno Calls On Support to Send Palestinian Solidarity Track to UK Festive Top Spot.

A charity drive is aiming to launch a traditional song from Palestine to the Christmas number one spot. The project aims to deliver assistance to Gaza's residents while also highlighting Palestinian artistic heritage.

A Possibility for Unity and an "Unlikely Coup"

Renowned figure Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a moment to show solidarity with Palestinians this festive season. He noted the potential for an unlikely festive coup.

“That would be amazing if that occurred, yes,” he stated. “I wouldn't be completely let down if it doesn’t, festive releases are a unique phenomenon.”

Resilient Spirit of Self-Determination

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the version of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the piece's resilient spirit.

“It occupies a very special place for many individuals,” Barghouti said. “The essence is that I would prefer a dignified death than spend my life without freedom. That is the core idea of the song; we desire to exist a life of dignity that we merit as a people.”

Track's Background and Featured Artists

The song was recorded in the wake of a large-scale benefit event held in late summer. Originally intended to be captured during the live event, the rendition was cut from the show due to time constraints.

The notable list of artists featured on Lullaby includes a selection of prominent voices from the industry. All participated in the earlier concert, which reportedly raised a substantial amount for relief efforts.

Production and Release

Lullaby was produced by a trio of talented individuals. The song features a mix of the original Arabic with contemporary English verses.

The team running the campaign have emphasized that their aim is to collect the highest amount for a dedicated fund. These resources will be distributed to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an partnering humanitarian organization.

“We don’t have a fixed goal,” a representative said. “We will pursue whatever we can get. Obviously, the greater the amount, the better. All proceeds are directed out to the people of Gaza.”

The context in the region was noted for its widespread damage, with a vast majority of infrastructure said to be destroyed or damaged.

“Against that backdrop, a few million won't make that much difference. But I think what truly matters is primarily making this cause better known and showing that another narrative exists.”

The track is launching at the end of the week. Additionally, a complete film of the solidarity show will be made ready to watch on a major video platform from the 19th of December.
