'Enduring a Horrific Ordeal': Loved Ones of Unaccounted For Young People Desperately Seek Answers After Alpine Fire
The loved ones of teenagers unaccounted for after a devastating fire at a venue in a Switzerland's ski resort are confronting an painful wait for answers and pleading for any details about their loved ones publicly.
The fire devastated the a popular bar in the alpine resort, located in the Swiss Alps of south-west Switzerland, in the middle of the night of January 1st. Circulated images depict the roof structure igniting as bottles with sparklers are raised in celebration.
Authorities have indicated that it could take days if not weeks to formally name the fatalities of the disaster, which claimed the lives of 40 people and wounded another scores more. Officials stated on the latest update that the majority of the injured have been identified, with the process ongoing to name the remaining few.
In the waiting period, families and friends have been using the internet to appeal for clues about their missing relatives who were at the bar that evening.
Heartbreaking Pleas for the Unaccounted For
The location of teenager from Switzerland Arthur Brodard, 16, are not yet determined, according to an appeal from his family.
The resident of a town near Lausanne, told a publication that she had gone back to the city to see if he was in the medical facility, while his father did the equivalent search in the capital, but could not find him.
"It feels like a terrible dream, a horror. Either I find my son in the hospital mortuary, or I find him in intensive care. It's horrific," she told the paper.
She continued that some of his friends had been discovered with burns covering a significant portion of their bodies. "It's indescribable; they went through a terrifying ordeal."
The Italy's government has said that a number of of its young people have not been located.
Included in that group is Emanuele Galeppini, a 16-year-old sportsman, originally from Genoa but now residing in the UAE.
The Italian Golf Federation has said that he is deceased, without mentioning the tragedy, honoring a "talented young man who represented dedication and authentic values."
His parent, reportedly stated that his son was at the bar and was last heard from around the new year. An representative has stated that a formal confirmation of his death is still pending.
Additional Missing Individuals
Giovanni Tamburi, sixteen, is likewise unaccounted for. His parent told reporters that he had been on holiday but had gone out with a group and found himself at the bar.
