Homages Pour In for Rob and Michele Reiner as Medical Examiner's Findings Remain Under Wraps.
More than two weeks subsequent to the heartbreaking passing of esteemed filmmaker Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, peers and loved ones continue to honor the duo.
A Heartfelt Farewell: Cary Elwes Remembers His Director
Posting on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, explained he just recently felt ready to express about his deep grief.
"Enough time has gone by that I can at last articulate my loss into words," wrote Elwes, noting that his first meeting with Reiner left him smitten. "Once we started spending more time together I realized this was someone I wanted in my life."
The actor posted never-before-seen clips from the film, remarking that he doesn't recollect "any day without laughter".
"The movie is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Values that Rob held dear. This is one of the many reasons he was the perfect person to guide it," Elwes continued.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, noting: "To say that they were a formidable pair would be an oversimplification. My heart still hurts every time I recall you." He ended with a quote from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."
Martin Scorsese Remembers a Fellow Artist
In a different essay, legendary director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.
"Immediately, I loved being with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese shared.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the lead role.
"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked beautifully with his co-stars, and he understood the human predicament of his character," Scorsese wrote.
Court Proceedings: Autopsy Reports Sealed
In a new development, a Los Angeles judge decided to block the release of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, at the request from the local authorities.
A judicial mandate placed a security hold on the investigation to prohibit the public release of "all case details, notes, reports or photos" pertaining to the probe.
The relevant authority had earlier stated their deaths were the outcome of murder, with a official listing listing the cause as "wounds from an edged weapon".
Fallout and Commentary
After the killings, public personalities offered varying comments.
Ex-President Donald Trump commented on the matter, providing provocative claims that were met with immediate backlash by several commentators.
Podcaster Joe Rogan lent his perspective to the those speaking out recently. Conversing on his program, Rogan described the statements as "disappointing" and remarked they revealed a troubling deficiency of sympathy.
Rogan concluded by remarking that an associate should have acted when the decision to comment on the death was made.
