Hundreds of people gathered for the memorial ceremony for a member of the two men lost in the recent synagogue attack in Manchester.

Family members, members from the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation including the congregation's rabbi, and members of the Jewish community at large gathered in the Salford area to offer condolences to Melvin Cravitz, aged 66.

Mourners crowded the burial ground entrance, with numerous individuals standing beyond the prayer hall in the downpour, listening to the ceremony and the memorial speech over public address systems.

Mr Cravitz lost his life after an perpetrator rammed a car into and attacked with a knife attendees coming together for a ceremony to commemorate Yom Kippur – the most sacred occasion of the Jewish calendar – at Heaton Park Synagogue.

'Kind to all'

Rabbi Walker, who helped to prevent the attacker from gaining access to the house of worship, was among those at Melvin's memorial service.

In a memorial message released on Friday, the family of the victim requested space and said he would "do anything to help anyone".

They said: "His kindness and caring nature were evident to all, and he always sought conversation and connection."

"His dedication to his spouse and relatives was unwavering, and he had a passion for culinary delights."

Anthony Khan, a thirty-five-year-old neighbor who said he had known the victim since childhood, remarked: "He greeted everyone warmly and refrained from negative comments about others."

A different resident, Andy Kordas, a community member, recalled: "He frequently approached for conversation and inquired about my activities."

"A smile was ever-present on his countenance. This tragedy is heartbreaking."

'Beloved brother'

Bilal Ahmad, an area resident, who said he had resided locally for 20 years, mentioned that Melvin was a "wonderful person" and "very calm".

"He would always say hello when you came past."

The other victim of the assault, Adrian Daulby, aged 53, was characterized as a "hero" by his relatives in a tribute.

They further mentioned the fifty-three-year-old was "a beloved brother and loving uncle."

Three additional individuals were taken to hospital with significant wounds.

Law enforcement recently said two men and two women remained in custody after being arrested on allegations involving acts of terrorism.

An 18-year-old woman and a 43-year-old man have been freed with no additional measures.
