Bach is considered to have created the two organ pieces early in his career

Previously unknown organ works by Johann Sebastian Bach have been presented and played in the European nation for the premiere performance in three hundred twenty years.

The country's Minister of Culture the cultural official called the discovery of the two pieces a "important event for the global music scene".

They initially attracted notice of a musical scholar in 1992 when he was organizing historical musical documents at the Belgian royal collection.

The musical compositions - the Chaconne in D minor and G minor Chaconne - were dating unknown and anonymous. The researcher spent the next 30 years working to confirm the origin of the pieces.

Memorable Concert

They were performed at the Thomas Church in the German city, where Bach is laid to rest and where he served as a church musician for over two decades.

The pair of works were executed by Dutch musician the musical performer, who said he was honored to be able to present them for the first time in 320 years.

He said the compositions were "remarkably sophisticated" and would be "an important addition for organists today, as they are also well-suited for smaller organs".

Musical Importance

They are believed to have been written at the beginning of Bach's professional life, when he was serving as an music instructor in the community of the Thuringian town in the German region.

The researcher, who is now the director of the musical archive in the municipality, said they displayed several features particular to the artist.

"Musically, the works also feature elements that can be identified in the composer's creations from that time, but not in those of other musicians," he said.

They are thought to have been recorded in the early eighteenth century by Bach's apprentice, Salomon Günther John.

At a presentation of the works, the expert said he was "99.99% sure that Bach had written the two pieces" and they have now been included into the recognized inventory of his works.
