Jennifer Lawrence has declared that she no longer feels appropriate to voice opinions regarding the Trump administration, worried it could intensify divisive discussions and deepen rifts within the United States.

‘I Question the Usefulness’, Notes Lawrence

Speaking with media, she commented, “During the first Trump administration, I thought I was acting frantically in a panicked state. But as we’ve learned, through repeated campaigns, public figures have no real impact in any way on voter decisions.”

Lawrence added, “What’s the point? I’m just voicing my thoughts on something that’s going to heighten conflict that’s ripping the country apart.”

Political Evolution

The actress has spoken candidly about backing Republican and Democratic contenders throughout her life. Growing up with Republican parents in her home state, she voted for John McCain in the 2008 election then moving to the Democratic party and revealing she understood during Obama’s administration that voting Republican was opposing her own rights as a female citizen.

Earlier Remarks

Earlier in her career, she commented that a Trump victory might signal “the end of the world” and publicly supported the Democratic candidate in the 2020 presidential race. In the latest campaign, she lent her support to Kamala Harris, “since I feel she’s an amazing candidate and I am confident that she will take all necessary steps to protect reproductive rights.”

Hollywood’s Stance

The star was supported by most of Hollywood in her disapproval of Donald Trump as a presidential contender, but the minimal impact celebrities have over the public choices was highlighted by Trump’s victory.

“Another four years seems distinct,” commented she of his administration. “Since he said what he was going to do. We understood his record for the previous administration. He was explicit. And that’s what we chose.”

Lawrence is currently promoting Die, My Love, Lynne Ramsay’s project in which she plays a new mother who faces challenges with her psychological well-being in rural Montana. During a press conference for the movie in Venice, Lawrence commented on the conflict in Gaza: “I’m terrified. It’s mortifying. What’s taking place is equivalent to a atrocity and it’s horrible.”

She continued by saying that she was disappointed by “the hostility in the discussions of American politics right now and how that is going to be accepted to the children right now. It’s going to be standard to them that elected officials deceive.”

The actor aimed to shift outrage about the issue to decision-makers rather than celebrities. “Concentrate on those accountable,” she said, which was interpreted as a nod to the declaration signed by numerous Hollywood professionals to boycott specific industry bodies.
