The Red Devils Poised to Secure German Striker Lea Schüller from Bayern Munich
Manchester United are on the verge of completing the signing for prolific Germany striker Lea Schüller on a permanent transfer from the Frauen-Bundesliga champions.
A Major Signing for the WSL Side
The forward, with half a year left on her deal, has been a prolific goal-getter for both club and country. She has scored more than 100 goals for the German giants and scored 54 times in 82 appearances for her country. Her arrival is viewed as a major coup for the Women’s Super League team.
Her exit from Bayern was expected after she appeared to be holding back emotions while thanking the club's supporters following a win over Bayer Leverkusen this month.
It was reported in late December that the Frauen-Bundesliga was losing one of its leading strikers. According to reports, all the paperwork for the move have now been completed.
Reliable Goal Threat to Strengthen the Forward Line
The experienced striker's arrival should represent a major boost to the team's forward line. Schüller has been highly consistent with her finishing in the Bundesliga.
- Over seven consecutive seasons, including the most recent campaign, she reached at least a double-figures tally of league goals.
- She claimed the Golden Boot in 2021-22 season with a haul of 16 goals.

The acquisition of the German international coincides with a period when United seem to be building momentum.
Recent on-pitch successes include securing a place in the European knockout phase playoffs in a seeded position and a win in the Conti Cup quarter-finals.

- The acquisition of Swedish defender Hanna Lundkvist on a multi-year deal.
- The new deal for Japan midfielder Hinata Miyazawa, a popular figure since joining in 2023.
On Miyazawa’s extension, a club official stated: “She has become a vital component to the way we play. Her understanding of the game and technical ability enables her and the team to control and dictate play from central areas.”
Lundkvist, who has joined from a side from the American league, said: “You can feel how much the club have grown in the last few years, playing in one of the strongest leagues in the world and performing in the top European competition.”
