Tom Clancy's The Division Makes Its Way to the Tabletop Gaming World as a Brutally Tactical Tabletop Role-Playing Game

The intense universe from Tom Clancy’s The Division will be translated into a tabletop role-playing experience. A partnership has been formed to create a TTRPG that explores the series' post-pandemic landscape. The project was revealed, with a crowdfunding campaign scheduled to launch in the spring of 2026.

"This project aims to deliver the franchise’s distinctive tension, strategic depth, and iconic world-building to the tabletop, offering fans a new way to experience The Division through deep narrative and player-driven missions," reads an announcement.

Initial offerings are set to feature a starter set, essential manuals, a GM screen, figurines, and various premium versions.

Exploring The Division's Apocalyptic World

In this universe, a lethal pathogen known as Green Poison was unleashed in New York City, sending the nation into turmoil. As the pandemic worsens, society crumbles and violent factions emerge, turning the urban landscape into a warzone. To restore order, the authorities {activate|deploy] The Division, a secret cell of undercover operatives. This is where the agents come in.

Work on the RPG has been underway for approximately three years, and it is confirmed to be complete. The upcoming Kickstarter campaign will function as a preorder system to reach a wider market, specifically in the United States. Manufacturing will start immediately following the campaign, with deliveries expected for the latter part of 2026.

A Streamlined Tactical System: The GRIS System

A preview at the system reveals it uses d10s predominantly through its new GRIS system, encouraging a streamlined and tactical approach. Agents leverage skills or traits to roll a handful of dice, typically from one to five d10s.

  • Instead of summing the total, players select a single “resolution die” from the pool.
  • This die is then measured against a set challenge number.
  • Achieving a perfect 10 triggers additional bonuses, such as increased harm or enhanced aid.

Engagements Focus On Tactical Placement and Awareness

Fights stress positioning and environmental awareness, mirroring the source material. Elements like cover, elevation, or visibility have a direct impact dice rolls. This mechanic is designed to favor teamwork and smart positioning over simple statistics.

A Novel Health System

The way injuries is managed introduces a interesting thematic twist. Agents have a wound threshold; taking heavy hits reduces their capabilities by decreasing the size of their dice pool.

  1. At critical condition, an agent is downed, but they’re not unconscious.
  2. They may still move and take limited actions, simulating the last stand seen in video game shooters.
  3. Any agent in this state must consult a trauma table, risking lingering conditions like shock or crippling injuries.

An Introductory Adventure

A free Quickstart Guide is promised soon. It includes a ready-to-play introductory scenario titled Ashes of Murray Hill. In this mission, the group lead the search for a missing medical team and must thwart an attack by the notorious Rikers faction, who have seized control of that NYC neighborhood. More specifics and the full range of offerings will be unveiled closer to the Kickstarter start date.
