Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Deadly Car Crash
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been released from care, Nigerian authorities announced on Wednesday night. The 36-year-old was caught in a vehicular crash near Lagos on December 29th, a tragic incident that resulted in the deaths of two of his close associates.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
The sports star had been under observation while healing from his light wounds, his promoter confirmed on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on X that Joshua was judged healthy enough to “recuperate at home”.
“Anthony and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two departed friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” the official remarked.
A Tribute to the Fallen
The two men who died were identified as Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. It was also noted that the athlete was heartbroken and full of emotions over the tragic loss of his two dear friends.”
