‘We Will Miss Him Terribly’: Meg Ryan Shares Emotional Homage to Rob Reiner
Meg Ryan has published a heartfelt tribute to the late director Rob Reiner, who directed her in the beloved rom-com When Harry Met Sally.
A Devastating Incident
Reiner was found dead with his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, at their Los Angeles home at the weekend.
“How we will long for this man…” the actress posted on Instagram, next to an image of them together. “Our gratitude, Rob and Michele, for your faith in true love, stories, and joy. Thank you for your faith in the best in people, and for your profound love of our country.”
Court Case Developments
Reiner’s son Nick, 32, is accused of two counts of first-degree murder and appeared in court today. He’s being incarcerated with no bail set. Sources state that Reiner’s daughter Romy discovered her father deceased.
“It is my belief that from this horror, positive change and understanding can emerge,” Ryan went on to write. “I don’t know, but my guess is that they would want that to be hopeful and humane, to be something that brings us all to a greater understanding of one another and to some peace.”

Reiner’s other children Jake and Romy shared a statement today. “No words can convey the constant, profound sorrow we feel,” they said. “Losing our parents in such a horrific way is a devastation beyond comprehension. They were more than parents; they were our closest confidants.”
Hollywood Tributes Pour In
Ryan’s co-star, Billy Crystal, joined in remembering Reiner with a statement shared yesterday together with remarks by Larry David, Martin Short and Albert Brooks.
“No one matched his comic instinct, his dedication to rhythmic dialogue, or his elegant sharpening of drama,” it read. “He adored his actors. He elevated his writers. His greatest gift was freedom. If you had an idea, he listened, he brought you into the process. Collaborators felt like a unified team. Being guided by him was an honor, yet just one facet of his impact.”

When Harry Met Sally was a critical and commercial success in 1989, making over $93m at the box office and scoring Nora Ephron an Oscar nomination for best original screenplay.
Rob Reiner was introduced to Michele Singer Reiner during the production of When Harry Met Sally. The pair were introduced by Barry Sonnenfeld, a friend and director.
Reiner’s extensive filmography comprised classics such as Misery, Stand by Me and The Princess Bride. The director and his wife were married for 36 years.
